OSRS XP Calculator
The level-to-XP table is generated from Jagex's own formula rather than copied from a chart, so every level from 1 to 99 is exact. Enter your current XP and a target level to see how much is left — and how many actions that means at your XP per action.
The formula behind the table
The XP required to reach level L is:
XP(L) = ⌊ (1/4) · Σn=1L−1 ⌊ n + 300 · 2n/7 ⌋ ⌋
Both floors matter: the inner one is applied to every term before summing, the outer one after dividing by four. Dropping either produces numbers that are off by a handful of XP — small enough to look right in a screenshot and wrong enough to break a planning spreadsheet.
This page computes the table with that formula at load time instead of storing a chart, and its test suite asserts the five anchors everyone can check independently: level 2 = 83 XP, level 10 = 1,154, level 50 = 101,333, level 92 = 6,517,253 and level 99 = 13,034,431.
Key levels
| Level | XP required | Share of 99 |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 1,154 | 0.01% |
| 25 | 7,842 | 0.06% |
| 50 | 101,333 | 0.78% |
| 70 | 737,627 | 5.66% |
| 80 | 1,986,068 | 15.24% |
| 92 | 6,517,253 | 50.00% |
| 99 | 13,034,431 | 100% |
Why “92 is half of 99”
It is not a joke, it is the curve. Because each level costs exponentially more than the last, the XP between 92 and 99 is almost exactly the XP between 1 and 92 — 6,517,253 versus 6,517,178, a difference of 75 XP across thirteen million.
Practically that means: if you are at 92, you are halfway. If you are at 80, you are 15% of the way. The half-way feeling that people report at level 70 is not wrong either — it is just about the time to 99, not the XP, because XP per hour rises sharply as you unlock better methods.
Turning XP into actions
XP per action is the only skill-specific number, and it is where most planning goes wrong. Two things to watch:
- Use the XP you actually get, including any bonuses you always have active. If you sometimes use a different method, plan with the slower one.
- Round up. You cannot do 0.4 of an action, so 1,000 XP remaining at 30 XP per action is 34 actions, not 33.33.
This calculator rounds the action count up for exactly that reason, and when you leave the field at zero it reports XP only instead of inventing an action count.
Common mistakes
- Adding XP instead of subtracting. “XP remaining” is the target's requirement minus your current XP, not the requirement on its own.
- Confusing the table with the time. 13,034,431 XP is fixed; the hours it takes are not, and they vary by more than a factor of ten between the slowest and fastest methods in the game.
- Treating 99 as the end of the curve's shape. The formula does not stop at 99 — the table simply is not used beyond it for normal training, since 99 is the cap.
- Using a chart that has been rounded to thousands. Fine for a rough plan, useless when you are 400 XP short and want to know whether one more action covers it.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work for Ironman or restricted accounts?
Yes, the XP table does not depend on account type. Only the XP per action and the methods available to you change, and those are inputs here.
What if my current XP is already past the target?
The remaining XP shows as zero and the action count shows as zero rather than a negative number — there is nothing left to do for that target.
Can I use this for XP beyond level 99?
The table in this tool stops at 99, which is the level cap for every skill. Post-99 XP exists as a counter but does not unlock levels, so it is not part of this calculation.
Why do some calculators disagree with this one by a few XP?
Almost always because of the flooring. Rounding the summed total once at the end, instead of flooring each term before summing, shifts results by a small amount. The in-game values match this page's output at every anchor level.

If a level's XP here disagrees with the in-game value, that is a bug in this page, not a rounding choice — please tell us which level.
